Opening: Lighting Intern (Part-Time)

KPK Lighting Design is an award-winning, fast-growing design firm based in Houston, Texas. We are seeking a talented lighting student looking for on-the-job experience to hone skills and expand knowledge in architectural lighting design. This remote, hourly intern will support our senior design staff on a variety of project types, including high-end multifamily towers, corporate interiors, mixed-use, hospitality, retail, restaurant, and residential.
Qualifications
Junior- or senior-level undergraduate in Interior Design (lighting minor), Architectural Engineering (lighting emphasis), or Architecture (lighting certificate or in progress)
A team player willing to pitch in to meet deadlines
Self-motivated with excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and a willingness to learn
Strong time-management skills and the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
Knowledge of or experience with AGi32, AutoCAD, Revit, Adobe InDesign, Microsoft Office, and Bluebeam Revu
Responsibilities
When your school schedule allows, participate in all phases of the lighting design scope—from schematic design through construction administration.
Contribute to fixture research for inclusion in lighting fixture cut-sheet packages and fixture schedules
Produce photometric calculations using CAD and/or PDF backgrounds
Attend client meetings to observe and take action-item notes
Attend and participate in internal meetings; creative brainstorming is encouraged
Draft lighting designs in CAD and/or Revit (primarily Revit)
Coordinate with sales reps to prepare cost estimates and complete schedules
Shadow designers as we review submittals and RFIs during construction
Software is provided by KPK; hardware is provided by the student intern
